Obituary of Diana Elaine Strecker

APRIL 17, 1953 – FEBRUARY 19, 2016 Diana passed away peacefully on February 19, 2016 at the Regina Pasqua Hospital after a short battle with cancer. She was 62 years old. Diana was predeceased by her parents Frank and Olga Kuzyk and parents-in-law George and Lois Strecker. Diana will be lovingly remembered by her husband Gerald; children Chad (Karen) Strecker, Lisa (Steven) Beres, and grandchildren Everett and Vera Beres. Her memory will also be cherished by her sister Darlene (Craig) Stannard; brother-in-law Larrie (Carol) Strecker; her nieces and nephews Melissa Stannard, Ryan Stannard, Angela Strecker (Michael Cerbone), Leanne (Michael) Pederson; great niece Blake Pederson and family friend Bob Fenwick. Diana was born on April 17, 1953 in Hafford, Saskatchewan. She grew up on the farm and later moved to Saskatoon where she completed high school. After high school she moved to Regina where she met her future husband Gerald Strecker, whom she married on June 11, 1977. Gerry and Diana lived in Regina where they raised two beautiful children, Chad and Lisa. She worked at CIBC, SaskPower and SGI, where she worked until her passing. Diana loved spending time with her family, playing with her precious grandchildren, spending time at the family cottage, gardening and tending to her beautiful flowers. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Monday, February 22, 2016 from 6:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Athanasius Ukrainian Catholic Church, 55 McMurchy Ave, Regina, SK, on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Basil Malowany officiating. Interment will follow at Regina Memorial Gardens, followed by lunch. Special thanks to the amazing doctors, nurses and staff of ward 3B and the Palliative Care Unit at the Regina Pasqua Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Diana’s memory to the Oncology Unit, 3B or the Palliative Care Unit 3A at the Regina Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK, S4T 1A5.
