Obituary of Charles Herbert Stewart

February 26, 1915 – Chamberlain, SK February 22, 2016 – Regina, SK Charlie, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully in the Pasqua Hospital on Monday, February 22, 2016, four days prior to his 101st birthday. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of seventy-two years, Verna in 2013; infant son Keith Douglas Stewart; son-in-law Neil Perry; grandson-in-law Martin Bouchard; great-granddaughters, Adeline Rose Stewart and Teagan Batstone; parents George and Annie Stewart; siblings, Myrtle, Pearl, Gordon, Roy, Allan and Freeda. Charlie is survived by son Lyle (Linda) Stewart of Pense, SK; daughter Cheryl Perry of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Stephanie (Gabe) Batstone, Krista (Kevin) Hill, Alison (Sean) Sargent and Lee (Jessica) Stewart; great-grandchildren, Julianna, Stewart, Natalie, Josie, Jack and Liberty; Verna’s sister-in-law Margaret Norman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie was born and raised in the Chamberlain district. He married Verna Norman in 1941. They farmed in the Chamberlain district until 1945 when they relocated to Pense, SK where they farmed and raised their family. They retired to Regina in 1978, but Charlie’s interest in farming continued until his passing. He was very grateful for his wonderful long life. Despite sad times and hard times, he had no regrets, and he was amazed to live to 100. He was a kind gentleman who had an incredible memory including every detail, a quick wit, and he loved to reminisce. The family wishes to express their appreciation to EMS, ER, MSU and Unit 4A at the Pasqua Hospital for their compassionate and respectful care. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Saturday February 27, 2016, at 4:00 p.m. Flowers most gratefully declined.
