ANNABELLE SHEA HEAD (Donnelly)
1914 – 2016
Annabelle died peacefully in Calgary at the Father Lacombe Care Centre on February 14, 2016 with her daughters Marnie and Pauline at her side. Annabelle Shea Donnelly was born in Stoughton, Saskatchewan on December 18, 1914. She left Stoughton to finish high school at Regina College and went on to graduate from the nursing program at Regina General Hospital in 1937. Her nursing colleagues became lifelong friends and enjoyed many reunions together. She married Harry Head, the love of her life, in 1941. After the war, they raised their family in Regina. She moved to Alberta to be closer to her daughters after Harry died. December 2014 she celebrated her 100th birthday. Annabelle was predeceased by her husband Harry Austin Head (1914-1999), daughter Catherine Janet (1944–1950), and brother Mac (Walter) Donnelly. Her love of family and friends was most important to Annabelle, and the primary focus of her life. One of her favorite past times was a good game of bridge which she continued until she was well into her 90’s. Lovingly remembered by daughters Pauline (Blaine) and Marnie (Bill), grandchildren Christian Rutledge and Trista Rutledge as well as many nieces and nephews. Marnie and Pauline wish to thank Lilia Castens who has been a companion and friend to Annabelle since she has been in nursing care and also to Staff and volunteers at the Father Lacombe Care Centre in Calgary who always showed kindness, compassion and respect when caring for Annabelle. Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Donations may be made in Annabelle’s memory to Father Lacombe Care Centre, 270 Providence Blvd SE, Calgary, AB T2X 0V6.
