Arthur Desnomie

Obituary of Arthur Alexander Desnomie

Arthur slipped away peacefully, after a courageous and long battle with colitis and Kennedy’s syndrome, into the Spirit World. Arthur is survived by his son Derek; grandson Joshua; seven brothers Harry, Claude (Marla), Francis, Craig, Roy, Douglas, Warren (Cindy); sister Dorothy (Del); uncle Lionel (Tina) Desnomie; aunt Marina Sanderson; two godchildren Victoria Dieter and Ashlee Alexson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Francis and Irene Desnomie; paternal grandparents Alex and Margaret Desnomie and maternal grandparents Alex and Maggie Nokusis. Arthur was a devoted father, brother and friend. He was caring, kind and always ready to lend support by listening and providing guidance. His love for his home community was demonstrated through the years of commitment he devoted as a band counsellor and sports and recreation coach. He loved his sports; an avid fan of the Maple Leafs, Blue Jays, Saskatchewan Rough Riders and Green Bay Packers. In his last few years he lived at Wascana Rehabilitation Hospital where he made many friends with the residents and nurses. His humility was demonstrated through helping others even though he would be struggling with his own health issues. Wake will be held at the Desnomie family home on Peepeekisis Cree Nation on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. Overflow from the Wake will be at Peepeekisis Pesakastew school.
