Obituary of Pauline Kawka

PAULINE KAWKA AUGUST 10, 1923 – FEBRUARY 27, 2016 Pauline was the first born child of Emil and Grace (Sagin) Paicu on August 10, 1923. She was born at home on the farm 15 miles south of Avonlea. She passed away peacefully at Coteau Range Manor in Avonlea on February 27, 2016. Pauline was predeceased by her husband Tony (Frank) Kawka; parents Grace and Emil Paicu; sisters Georgina Tkachuk and her husband Fred, Jenny Geisthardt, in infancy Georgina and Maxine; brothers William Paicu, in infancy Johnny Paicu and brother-in-law Cliff Denton. She is survived by sisters Marie (Tom) Chapman and Emilie Denton; brother George (Alma) Paicu; brother-in-law Elmer Geisthardt; sister-in-law Irene Paicu as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Pauline worked for the government making ammunition during the war and continued there working in various departments. She married Tony Kawka on June 25, 1949. He was transferred with the CN Railroad to Manitoba and in 1972 they transferred back to Regina. They were very involved with the CN Recreation Committee, running bingos and other events. They loved to dance and attended many sporting events. Pauline was a very avid Roughrider fan. Pauline acted at Poll Supervisor for provincial elections. This position was very important to her and she hated to retire. Her hobbies were crocheting and petit point pictures. Tony passed away in 2001 and Pauline continued living in her home until August of 2015 when she moved to her new home at Coteau Range Manor. The family is so appreciative of the care she got at the Manor. Thank you so much to all the staff for their understanding and compassion and to the residents for their friendship. Thank you so much to neighbors Don, Mary-Anne, Lana Larder, Doug and Suzan Smith and Bob and Pat Roddy for being there for Pauline and for her family. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Saturday March 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
