Obituary of Wilfred 'Fred' Joseph LaRocque

WILFRED (FRED) JOSEPH LaROCQUE With love and sadness the family of Wilfred (Fred) Joseph LaRocque announce his passing on March 15, 2016 at the age of 86 years, at Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home, Regina, SK. Fred leaves his loving wife Gertrude (Gert) LaRocque (nee Jordan); four children: daughter Susan Kuling (Paul); three sons Doug LaRocque (Carol); Les LaRocque (Cheryl); Barry LaRocque and daughter in-law Lori LaRocque; ten grandchildren: Jeff, Shauna (Bill), Amanda, Taylor (Mitch), Matthew (Emily), Steven, Denae, Reanne, Megan and Abby; five great-grandchildren: Brynn, Ben, Jacob, Sienna and Ava. He is survived by his sister Joan Holden and brothers, Roy LaRocque (Elsie) and George LaRocque (Ladene), and many nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his parents Allan and Mary LaRocque, his sisters and brothers-in-law Emmeline Tosczak (Bill), Yvonne Bourret (Ovide), Irene Perlich (Joe), brother-in-law Bill Holden, and nieces, Jackie Holden, Peggy Bollinger (Bourret). Fred was born on April 15, 1929 at Lebret, Saskatchewan. He had fond memories of being raised and working on the family farm near Lebret. Fred and Gert were married in 1953 and shared 62 years of marriage. They made their home and started their family in Regina. In 1961, the family moved to Yorkton where Fred worked in the insurance and farm implement business for 33 years. He was actively involved in Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club. He enjoyed time with his family, his cabin and boat, curling, hunting, cribbage, travelling, barbequing and gardening. Fred and Gert retired in Yorkton and moved to Regina in 1997 to be closer to family. He was happiest when he was with his family and grandkids. The family is grateful to the staff of Silva Care Homes and Santa Maria Care Home for their kind and compassionate care. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ the King Parish, 3239 Garnet Street, Regina on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Private Interment will be at Riverside Memorial Park on Saturday, April 9, 2016. Memorial donations may be sent, in memory of Fred, to the Alzheimers Society of Saskatchewan Inc., 301 - 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
