Molly Johnson

Obituary of Molly Christina Johnson

1923-2016 Molly Christina Johnson, late of Regina, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully March 20, 2016, with her beloved daughter by her side. Molly was born January 10, 1923, in St. Walburg, Saskatchewan, to a hard-working farm family. Her mother was widowed when Molly was only 3 months old. There were many challenges growing up in a family with a single Mom during the Depression era, and living through the horrors of World War II. She was required to start working at a young age. This involved moving to Saskatoon where she met Earl Johnson, the love of her life. They married in 1953 and moved to Regina where Earl worked as an extension agrologist with the Saskatchewan Department of Agriculture. Molly devoted her life to supporting Earl, maintaining her home, and being a caring friend and volunteer worker. She became an honorary Mom to the many children in the Hillsdale neighbourhood where she lived until a few months ago. In 1963, Molly and Earl were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Terry. Molly was an extremely devoted and proud Mom. Over the years, she welcomed Terry’s husband James and her beloved granddaughters Amy and Jennifer into the family with much love and pride. Molly had a wonderful sense of humour, tremendous warmth and compassion, and a very deep and abiding Faith. She was a very generous, fun-loving woman who dedicated her life to supporting her family and her friends. We have great memories of her antics over the years, including being Santa Claus for the Wesley Wheelers, playing practical jokes on Earl’s co-workers, and fighting with James! Celebrating Molly’s life and cherishing her memory are her loving daughter, Terry, son-in-law James Fong, and her precious granddaughters Amy and Jennifer Fong. Molly is also fondly remembered by her nieces Molly (John) Baron, and Georgina (Ron) Skebo of Calgary, many cousins and extended family, and many dear friends. Molly was predeceased by her beloved husband, Earl, in 2003. She was also predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Christina, her sister Margaret and her brother Joseph. The funeral mass will be Celebrated at St. Anne’s Parish, 1701 Cowan Crescent, Regina, SK on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Private interment at Riverside Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the staff of Solace Care Home for the care and support provided in her final weeks. A very special thank you to the staff on Unit 4A, Pasqua Hospital, especially Dr. Franko and Nurse Sister April, for their compassion and care over the last few days. In lieu of flowers, donations in Molly’s memory to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. God’s gift to you is who you are; your gift to him is who you become. Mom, you presented God with a tremendous gift. I will love you forever
