Obituary of Rubye Vercoe Guest

RUBYE VERCOE GUEST Rubye passed away on Wednesday March 30, 2016 at the age of 94 years. She was born in Regina, SK on November 11, 1921. She was predeceased by her parents Bert and Ida Gurr and husband William (Bill) in 1993. Rubye is survived by her sons Barry (Margaret) of Regina and Bruce (Irene) of Calgary; grandchildren Kathryn (Robert) Heap in England, Jane (Tyler) Huntington of Regina, Tyler and Megan Guest of Calgary and five great grandchildren Lauren Huntington, Charlotte, Lucy and Tom Heap and Levi Huntington. Rubye moved to England with her parents in 1936 and worked as a model before joining the British and later the Canadian Army where she worked as a plotter. She met Bill in England at the end of WW2 and returned to Canada, they married in Winnipeg in 1946. Her skill as a seamstress enabled her to work from home and make many treasured friends. She loved to swim and vacation in Hawaii and Arizona. Rubye will be remembered as a talented seamstress and a stylish well-dressed lady. At Rubye's request there will be no funeral, a private graveside ceremony will be held at Riverside Memorial Park, Regina, SK at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined.
