Obituary of Cassie Hordichuk

JANUARY 1, 1928 – APRIL 4, 2016 Cassie passed away peacefully on Monday, April 4, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband Stan in April 2014. Cassie was born near Arran, SK on January 1, 1928. In 1946 she married the man she would spend the rest of her life with, Stan Hordichuk. They have two children, daughter Cheryl (Trev) Crowley of Abbottsford BC, and their children Trevor (Prudence) Crowley of Niagara Falls, ON and Andrea (Jason) Heiland, of Abbotsford BC; son Randy and his children Mike (Amanda) and Erin (Blair), of Regina and Jeff (Carla) of Okotoks, AB. Cassie had six great-grandsons, Zach and Keatin (Mike), Grayson, Beckett and Sawyer (Jeff and Carla), and Lincoln (Erin). In 1953 Cassie left Arran with Stan and moved to Virden, MB. They owned and operated Virden Photo Studio until 1967. Cassie was very involved with the Catholic Church where she was the head soloist for the church choir. They then moved to Regina, SK. where Cassie began work at Renee’s Boutique. She worked there until Stan got into photography again. She helped by running the photography business behind the scenes. Cassie enjoyed family gatherings, cooking and baking. She enjoyed playing the organ and took up painting. Cassie began learning golf when the first bout of osteoporosis started. Cassie loved to read! She also loved to be with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family spent many happy years between Regina and their cottage at Echo Lake near Ft. Qu’Appelle. Rest in peace Mom, we love you and we’ll miss you every day. A Memorial Service will be held in her honour at Saint Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 1717 Toronto Street, Regina, SK, on Tuesday April 12, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. A private family interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. The family would like to thank the doctors and the staff of the Regina Pasqua Hospital, Ward 4A, the Palliative Care unit, Salvation Army - Grace Hospice, and Lumsden Florist.
