Obituary of Gladys Viola Scheidt

GLADYS SCHEIDT née SIM January 8, 1928 – April 6, 2016 Gladys passed away peacefully at the Wascana Grace Hospice in Regina at the age of 88 years. Gladys was born in Kerrobert, SK and lived her early life in Luseland, SK. She is survived by her five children, Greg (Lillian), Monica, Rick and (Donna), Rod (Tanya) and Verna; grandchildren, Tyler (Dawn), Nova (Tim), Todd (Veronica), Kelsey (Brooke), Tanner (Megan), Robin, Jill (Chris), Tiffany and Taylor (Amy); eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy (Lorne) Vaughan and Doreen (Syl) Gauvreau; sisters-in-law, Ev Sim and Marion Sim; father-in-law Don Scheidt; brother-in-law William Scheidt; and many nieces and nephews. Gladys was predeceased by her husband Vernon Scheidt (2000); parents, Janet and William Sim; brothers, Harold, Don and Howard; and sisters-in-law, Jean Scheidt and Sally Tooke. In 1963, the Scheidt family moved from Luseland to Prince Albert where Gladys began her working career at Eaton’s. After various moves, Vern and Gladys settled in Regina. After retirement, Gladys enjoyed volunteering at the MacKenzie Art Gallery and Government House where she received the Annual Volunteer Award in 2000. She loved her family, her friends, gardening, summers spent in Waskesiu (in the 60’s and 70’s) and playing cards. A Celebration of Gladys’ Life will take place at the Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, Regina, SK, on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Wascana Grace Hospice for the care of Mom over the past two months. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of the Gladys may be made to the Regina Wascana Grace Hospice, 50 Angus Road, Regina, SK, S4R 8P6.
