Obituary of Margaret Hugel (Bollinger)

April 24, 1921 – May 1, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Margaret Hugel on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the age of 95. She was born on the family farm (SW-Sec.17-Twp12-R8-W3rd) close to Gooding Post Office, which was near the Village of Hodgeville, moved to Fife Lake in 1926 before relocating to Regina and then to Markinch in 1941. She was predeceased by her husband, Jacob; parents, Michael and Elizabeth Bollinger; sisters, Mary Ann and Evelyn; brother, Edward; sister-in-law, Kay; brothers-in-law, Carl Hansen and Lyle Young; three siblings in infancy and son-in-law, Henry Wagner. She is survived by her daughter Geraldine; three sons, John (Caroline), Brian (Elisabeth), and Eugene (Paula); eight grandchildren Sheldon Wagner, Cathy (Dale) Rennie, Greggory Hugel, Alicia Hugel (Justin Hamilton), Christopher Hugel (Tamara), Michelle Hugel, Isabella and Pierce Hugel; eight great-grandchildren and eleven great- great-grandchildren; sisters Darlene (Gary) Jones and Lorraine Young; brother Bill Bollinger and sister-in-law Delores Bollinger, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret’s greatest joy was her family and getting to meet the latest additions to her Hugel family. She was a huge Rider fan, a passion she inherited and passed on to her family. She remained interested in sports and current affairs, and enjoyed her outings to the grocery store every other week. She loved her polka music and the Waltons. The family recently celebrated with her at a surprise 95th birthday, where many stories and memories of Margaret’s life were documented and shared. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Special thanks to her caring friends at the Cornwall Village Cooperative and home care personnel who cared for her. A Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Margaret may be made to Regina Palliative Care Inc., Greystone Bereavement Centre, 1802 McAra Street, Regina, SK, S4N 6C4.
