Obituary of Mirle Weist

It is with loving memories that the family of Mirle Jacob Weist announces his passing on June 2, 2016 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, Saskatchewan at the age of 88 years. He was born in McLean, Saskatchewan on September 21, 1927 to parents Joseph and Viola Weist. Mirle is survived by his loving family, son Kurt (Sandi) Weist; grandchildren Dylan, Racheal (Lonny) Santo; great grandchildren Lincoln and Lexington; daughter Carla (Malcolm) Winter; grandchildren Kristin, Melanie (Luc) Mullinder, and Jessica; great granddaughter Madison; as well as Doris Weist, the mother of Kurt and Carla. Mirle is survived by his brother Jerry Weist; sisters Ethel Toma and Florence (Bill) Duncan; and sisters-in-law Joyce Weist and Patricia Weist. Mirle is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Viola; brothers John (Gladys), Roy, Cecil, and Harold; sisters Elizabeth (Bill) Cockwill, Marlene Weist, and Marjory Weist. In his early career, Mirle was a bus driver for the city of Regina from 1951 to 1955. He found his passion in the automotive industry, where he owned and operated several automotive repair businesses throughout his life. Mirle spend most of his days with his children Kurt and Carla at Regina Muffler and Brake Centre. Mirle had a magnetic personality and was loved by all who met him. He owned a home in Dunedin, Florida and wintered there for many years. Mirle was an avid golfer in his younger years and was a member of the Dunedin Golf and Country Club in Dunedin, Florida. He also enjoyed hockey, Rider football and baseball, with the Toronto Blue Jays being his favourite team. Mirle often attended spring training games in Dunedin as well. Mirle was a dedicated father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a kind and generous man to all those around him throughout his life. He has left this world but will never leave our hearts. The lessons he left for us will carry through the generations that have survived him. All the family and friends he had made throughout his life will sadly miss Mirle. Kurt and Carla would like to thank the nursing staff at the Pasqua hospital in unit 3D, social worker Cindy, Dr. Van Rooyen, and Dr. Llewelyn-Williams. As well as, the nursing staff of the Palliative Care unit along with Dr. C. Johnson for the care and assistance provided to their father in his final days. A special thanks goes to Jay Jaca for assisting in their father’s care over the past few months. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
