We first met Gordon (and Pearl) when we became first time home owners in Whitmore Park almost 30 years ago. Gordon saw us struggling to do some repair on our house, quickly ran over to introduce himself and offer the tall ladder that we lacked. He assured us that we should "take our time and keep the ladder as long as we needed it". Several weeks later we asked him if he needed the ladder back. With a twinkle in his eye, he answered "well, no, because then I will be expected to use it to do some work!"
He also bought us tickets to the Fall Supper at Whitmore Park United Church after we agreed to cut his grass and check his house while he was away. We never missed a fall supper after that! Thanks Gordon.
We will miss Gordon's wit, friendship and neighbourly ways.
