Jeanie Wagner

Obituary of Jeanie Macnair Isobel Wagner

With great sadness, we announce the passing of a dear mother, Granny, cousin, aunt, friend and teacher, Jeanie Macnair Isobel Shaw, 94 years old. She is survived by her children, Elisabeth (Charles Kang), Alan, grandson Jonathan Kassian, step-grandson Eyvind Kang (Jessika Kenney), and several nieces and nephews, particularly Margaret and Alison Mackay. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Annie Shaw, sister Seonaid Mackay, and husband, Fred Wagner. Jeanie was born in Kingussie, Scotland, and came to Regina at the age of two, where she lived until her passing. Scotland was always a special place to her. Jeanie graduated from the University of Saskatchewan, and taught in Grenfell and at Central Collegiate prior to her marriage. A love of English literature, music and teaching were lasting inspirations in her family and working life. She completed a Masters degree and taught at the University of Regina for over 25 years, touching the lives of many students. The family would like to thank her very devoted and caring friends, near and far. We thank Bill Bolstad who did so much to help her in her home and, more recently, staff at Pasqua Hospital and Beatrice Aito and the loving carers at Hillsdale Care Home. Jeanie supported many charities, particularly international relief, environmental causes, and the New Democratic Party. Flowers gratefully declined but, in lieu, Jeanie and the family would encourage a charitable contribution of your choice. At her request, a private gathering will be held at a later date.
