I met Curtis in 2010 at Brighton, England where he was part of the team training a group of 20 to become trainers. I found Curtis a most inspirational man who helped me realise that I COULD learn how to deliver a challenging course such as ASIST to others. Since that T4T I have delivered over 50 workshops, including 3 since his death on 6th July 2016.
I hope that his family can be assured that one of his many life saving legacies lives on through more than 1000 people I have trained in suicide first aid. I wonder how many lives he has saved indirectly. Curtis must have taught me well! The comment about ASIST training below was made by a participant who completed their training yesterday, 19th July.
'This training has been inspirational and life changing' ..... Curtis inspired me and has helped me inspire others. I hope this is some comfort at such a sad time for his family, friends and colleagues. Best Wishes Andrew Russell ASIST Trainer ID N17747

Dear Curtis. I speak to you directly because in my heart you are still alive. I wondered what happened to you. I tried many times to connect without success. I wanted to understand and to assist if possible. You know how we caregivers are, you who cared so deeply for others, you who taught us and coached us and showed us how to be our higher selves in the service of others. Thank you for being a friend and a teacher. I hope your gentle soul is happy somewhere. All I know for sure is that your life touched mine and I am a better person for having known you. Your gift lives on and it is a part of my soul now. Thank you my friend. Be at peace. May these last words from me to you be the seal that binds our souls together forever.
