Obituary of Alfred Roy Schropp

ALFRED ROY SCHROPP May 7, 1931 - July 27, 2016 Alfred Schropp of Regina (formerly of Holdfast, Saskatchewan), passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the age of 85 years. Alfred was born on May 7, 1931 to Philip and Elizabeth Schropp. He grew up on the family farm. On Nov 8, 1955, Alfred married Rose Fuchs of Dilke, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2015. They farmed a mixed grain and cattle farm for 57 years, and retired to Regina in the fall of 2012. Alfred was predeceased by his parents, Philip and Elizabeth (Selinger) Schropp; his father and mother-in-law, Alexander and Philippina (Gelsinger) Fuchs; brother and sisters-in-law, Conrad Fuchs, Roy Selinger, Tony and Theresa Gartner, Jack Ehmann, Clare Schropp, Elsie Fuchs; daughter-in-law, Sherry Schropp (2016); and grandson, Justin Schropp (2015). Alfred is survived by his devoted wife and love of 60 years, Rose (Fuchs) Schropp; his children, 2 daughters Mary Ann (John) Headford, Charlotte (Garth) Kessler; 4 sons, Gerry (Kathleen) Schropp, Ron (Kathy) Schropp, Rich Schropp, Tim (Candice) Schropp; grandchildren, Josh (Cheri) Kessler, Logan (Nicole) Kessler, Terry (Rae-Lee) Schropp, Devon Kessler, Meghan (Andrew) Schropp, Jesse Headford, Brandon Headford, Danny (Chantelle) Schropp, Julie (Mike) McGill, Tammy (Ryan) Schropp, Kaitlyn Schropp, Dalton Schropp; great-grandchildren, Hannah Miller, Aliyah and Brooklyn Kessler, Keyno Schropp, Hailey and Carter Schropp, and Tarkus Popadynetz. He is also survived by sisters, Pauline Selinger, Kay Ehmann; brother Leonard Schropp; brother and sisters-in-law, Peter Fuchs, Fran (Carl) Walter, Frances Fuchs; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 1, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 425 Broad Street N, Regina, with Rev. Peter Thang Nguyen officiating. Private family interment. Flowers most gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations in lieu of flowers, in memory of Alfred to the Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, Holdfast SK. The family wishes to thank the Doctors and Nurses and Aides on Units 4A, 4B and Palliative Care, Pasqua Hospital for your excellent and compassionate care to Alfred while he was in hospital. A very special Thank You to all the angels that God gave us during this very difficult time, as Alfred fought his illness. You will always hold a very special place in our hearts, for we will never forget how well you cared for him, with gentleness and kindness. ‘Till we meet again.
