Molly Engel

Obituary of Molly Camilla Engel

Molly Engel (nee Campbell) slipped away quietly with family by her side on Friday, July 29, 2016. Molly filled her 90 years on this earth with family and friends, art and poetry, and countless loaves of homemade bread. Born in Coalisland, Northern Ireland to John and Mary-Jane Campbell, Molly was one of eleven children. Although she immigrated to Canada as a young girl, Ireland was never far from her heart. In 1943 Molly made her way to Lemberg, Saskatchewan and began a teaching career that would span five decades and touch the lives of nearly everyone who went to school in town. In 1950, Molly married her husband of 57 years, Frank Engel and together they had six children – Greg (Barb) Engel, Maureen (Greg) Erlendson, Kevin (Helen) Engel, Vince (Dawn) Engel, Lee Ann (Mike) O’Donnell, and Patty Engel (Don Rodgers). A dedicated wife and mother, Molly was the heart of the family. After she retired, Molly enjoyed spending time with Frank and the family at their summer cottage. She knit blankets and sweaters for her ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren and took great pride in preparing thousands of perogies and cabbage rolls for her family over the years. Molly was a talented painter, an avid reader, and coached many Roughrider games from the comfort of her sofa. It is with great sadness that her loved ones say goodbye, but there is comfort in knowing Molly is at peace in God’s hands after a life well lived!
