Obituary of Yvonne Hagstrom

It is with much sadness that the family announces the passing of our dear mom and grandmother. Yvonne Marie Ann Hagstrom (nee Ryan) passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on Thursday, July 28, 2016 with her children at her side, after a brief battle with cancer. Yvonne was predeceased by her husband Kenneth in 1976; parents John and Ethel Ryan; brother Robert; sisters, Marjorie (Stan) Canham, and Donna Mae. Mom will be missed by her loving daughter Janet (Alex) Galarneau from Radville, SK; her loving son Wayne (Marion) Hagstrom from Okotoks, AB; six grandchildren, Broden, Aline, and Erin Galarneau, Katelin, Tyler and Emily Hagstrom. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Helen Lukowitch from Edmonton, AB, and Ruth Hagstrom from Vancouver, BC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Yvonne was born in Rouleau, SK on September 2, 1937 and grew up in Wilcox, SK with her three older siblings. Later she moved to Regina to start work at the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, where she worked for 10 years. Yvonne married Ken in 1964 and worked hard as a loving wife and mother. After Ken’s passing, Yvonne worked at various positions and took night classes to keep herself busy, as she enjoyed learning. Yvonne was a kind and loving woman, who loved to laugh and dance. She was always going to the senior dances or the polka parties. Yvonne will remain a cherished and loving part of our family’s memories. We would like to thank the Pasqua Hospital floor 3D, SWADD, Dr. Muftah, Dr. Helms, and the Radville Marion Health Centre for all their care. To honor Yvonne’s wishes, a private family interment will be held and a small gathering to Celebrate Yvonne’s Life will be held at Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall St, Regina, SK next Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. followed with coffee and dainties.
