Elaine Gorski

Obituary of Elaine Sandra Gorski

It is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our wife, mother, and grandmother, Elaine Sandra Gorski. On Thursday, August 11, 2016, Elaine (breast cancer survivor) lost her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, while on holidays in one of her favourite places, Penticton, BC. Elaine will be greatly missed by Bill Gorski, her loving husband of 51 years; daughters, Debbie (Jeff), Terrilee, Lori (John); grandchildren, Jennifer, Maddy, Mitchell, Abbey, and Vanessa; brothers, Lawrence, Wayne (Linda), Glenn (Helen), Brian, and David (Charlene); ‘Sistas’, Doreen, Jean (Maurice), and Kathy (Chris); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Clara (nee Keith) Douglas. Elaine was the third of nine children born to James and Clara and was raised on the family farm just outside of Kipling, SK. She moved to Regina when she was 18 years old and began working for the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, where she met her husband Bill. They were married on November 7, 1964. During their 51 years of marriage, they had three daughters, who were born in Regina and then in 1972, Elaine and Bill moved to Saskatoon, where they continued to raise their family. Elaine began her 40 year career in Real Estate while living in Saskatoon. Eventually her Real Estate career took her to Vancouver and then to Regina, where she resided at the time of her death. Elaine also managed to find time between family and work to support her community through the Lioness Club while in Saskatoon and volunteering for the Kidney and Heart and Stroke foundation in Regina. Elaine and Bill were fortunate to create many special memories together over the years on their vacations in Hawaii, Vancouver, and Penticton. She enjoyed documenting those memories and their life story through her scrapbooking. Elaine also truly loved going for a ride in her car especially after her diagnosis and was able to do so right until she left for her vacation to Penticton. A Celebration of Elaine’s life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make a donation in memory of Elaine to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 7T1.
