Obituary of John Jack Trethewey Bray

THE REV. DR. JOHN “JACK” TRETHEWEY BRAY February 12, 1923 – August 28, 2016 Jack was born in Sintaluta, SK to Rev. Thomas and Lilian Bray. He was ordained as a United Church Minister in 1947 and served churches in Eastend, Wapella, Colgate-Goodwater, Lang-Milestone, Esterhazy-Tantallon, and Kindersley. He was also involved in community activities where he lived. Following retirement he was minister emeritus at Westminster United Church, Regina. In June 2012, he received the Honouray Doctorate of College from St. Andrew's College in Saskatoon. Music was important throughout his life and he was a member of Regina Male Voice Choir and his church choir. Jack is survived by Elaine, his wife of nearly 67 year; his children, Miriam (John) van der Est, Victor (Arlene) Bray, and Deanna (Victor) Zak; grandchildren, Paul (Erin Gillis and daughter Lila) and Adrian van der Est, Andrew and Patrick Bray, Lora (Chris and son Jonathan) Camp, and Megan Zak; step-grandchildren, Steven, Shelley, Carrie, and Amy and their families. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Arlene Bray and Audrey Wilkinson; brother-in-law Don Wilkinson; as well as several nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his parents; parents-in-law, Victor and Ruth Wilkinson; infant son Victor John; his three brothers, Lloyd (Laila), Wes (Betty), and Tom Bray; brother-in-law Bus Wilkinson; and sister-in-law Dorothy Wilkinson. Funeral Service will be held at Westminster United Church, 3025 13th Avenue, Regina, SK on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to St. Andrew's College, 1121 College Drive, Saskatoon, SK S7N 0W3 or to Westminster United Church, Regina.
