Obituary of Ruby Pauline Heinrich

FEBRUARY 19, 1929 – SEPTEMBER 5, 2016 Ruby passed away peacefully on Monday, September 5, 2016 surrounded by loving family. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Roy (Chum), father Kristjan and mother Jonina Thorvaldson, , daughter Susan, siblings including Elin (Allan), Thorgrimor “Torg", Lillian (Miller), Bertha (Ivan), Beatrice, Wilbert (Ethel), Travis, John “Jacko”, Edwin, and Walter. Ruby will be sadly missed by her daughters Laurie (Ron), Ila (Lynn) and son-in-law Aldyn; grandchildren Darren (Rhonda), Tammy (Kelly), Michelle (Aaron), Jill, Lynette (Todd) and great-grandchildren, Preston, Parker and Paislea, Lauren and Rachel, Jaspen and Jett, Tatum and Kohen. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Dorothy and Marge. Ruby also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and extended family. Ruby was born and raised in Bredenbury, SK where she met Chum, the love of her life, and they eloped to BC in 1948. They returned to the prairies where they raised their family. Ruby was an entrepreneur, owning various hotels, cafes and bars in Rocanville, Watrous and Sintaluta. They later went on to own the golf course and campground at Katepwa Beach, and finally retired after operating a tree spade business in Regina. Ruby’s big heart brought out the best in people and she treasured her visits with family and friends. She was a caregiver to many and opened her house to anyone that needed a place to stay or who were just passing through – pets included! She was a practical joker and loved to show you her special card tricks that she was famous for. We loved her dearly and she will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Brightwater Care Community and the nursing staff at RGH 6A for the loving care provided to Ruby. A Celebration of Ruby’s Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK., Friday, September 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Regina Humane Society, P.O.
