Obituary of Gordon Cornelius Klippenstine

GORDON C. KLIPPENSTINE Gordon passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the age of 70. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Dodi Klippenstine; his first wife Beverley Klippenstine; and his sister Marlene Schmidt. Gordie is survived by his wife Sharon Klippenstine; his sons, Marc (Hope) and Dwight (Magdalena); his grandchildren, Antoni, Lukasz, Leokadia, Mateusz and Jakub; his sister Nadine; his brothers, Dale (Connie) and Terry (Eleanor); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, close friends, and neighbours. Gordie spent his life driving, either bringing much needed supplies across North America as a long haul truck driver, including using the treacherous ice roads in Northern Saskatchewan or bringing folks home or to work as a Taxi Cab Driver for Regina and Capital Cabs during the last 30 plus years of his life. Gordie grew up in Dummer, Saskatchewan and always thought of himself as a farm boy. His early years were spent riding horses, tinkering with machines, and fighting with his brothers over the best way to do pretty much anything. Gordie was an avid golfer for most of his life, but his favorite past time was a good nap and a tall glass of Pepsi filled to the top with lots of ice. He loved to visit his grandchildren and enjoyed seeing them run and play. Gordie loved his daughters-in-law greatly and was proud of his sons for their chosen careers and lives. He didn't say very much, but he was always smiling and chuckling quietly as an observer of the world around him. Gordie’s presence in our lives will be missed. We would like to thank the many nurses, support staff, and doctors at the Reginal General and Pasqua Hospitals for taking care of him during the last few months of his life. Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice. Although Gordie didn't have much, he was always the most proud when he could help others.
