Obituary of Ignatius Herman Sebastian

1930 – 2016 Ignatius passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the age of 86. He was predeceased by his parents Adam and Mary (Wild) Sebastian; four brothers Fr. Carlos Sebastian O.F.M., Joseph Sebastian, Fr. Adam Sebastian O.F.M., and Frank Sebastian; two sisters, Sr. Magdalena Sebastian (Ursuline Sisters) and Mary Schatz; brother-in-law Frank Schatz; and son-in-law Fred Hunter. Ignatius is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary; his brother Father Anthony Sebastian O.F.M., (Victoria, BC); his sister-in-law Antoinette “Toni” Sebastian; his eight children, thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren: Tony (Debbie) Sebastian and their family Alison (Robbie) Bradish and their family Colby and Clara; Leanne (Brent) Barnes and their son Brady. Greg (Valerie) Sebastian and their family Shayne Sebastian (Sheena Evert); Shaylee Sebastian (Tim Davies) and their daughter Hazel; Erin Sebastian; and Mark Sebastian. Kevin (Yvonne) Sebastian (Santa Fe, New Mexico). Joan (Gordon) Russell (Shubenacadie, NS). Rod (Carol) Sebastian (Sherwood Park, AB) and their son Matthew and his wife Zoe (Halifax, NS). Maureen (Mike) Lang and their family Randy Lang (Qingdao, China); Chantelle (Brian) Kuntz and their daughter Brooklyn; and Stephanie Lang. Paul (Ildi) Sebastian (Chiang Mai, Thailand). Rose (Barry) Zimmer and their family Jody (Josee) Hunter (St. Anne, MB) and their children Zoe, Emma and Allie; Paige Hunter (Tony Kancz); and Jenna Zimmer. Ignatius was a farmer and a member of the Kendal and Indian Head communities. He was a quiet and humble man, always ready and willing to lend a hand to neighbors and friends. Ignatius was a loving, kind, husband, father, and grandfather. He was actively involved in his church and the Knights of Columbus. His family is sincerely appreciative of the superb care provided for Ignatius by the staff and volunteers on Unit 2-6 at the Wascana Rehabilitation Hospital (WRC) where he spent the last three years of his life. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ the King, 3239 Garnet Street, Regina, SK, on Tuesday October 18, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, contributions may be made to The Archdiocese of Regina, 445 Broad Street North, Regina, SK, S4R 2X8, to support the volunteers who give so generously of their time to provide WRC residents, and their families, the opportunity to attend weekly Sunday morning Mass in the WRC Chapel.
