Obituary of Clara Marit Nichol (nee Olson)

CLARA MARIT NICHOL (née OLSON) November 16, 1925 – October 13, 2016 Clara passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the age of 90 years. She will be dearly missed by her son Barry, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Clara was born on the family farm south of Kandahar, SK, to parents John Olson and Elizabeth Vensland. She was later joined by sister Evelyn and brother Floyd. During the war, she lived in Vancouver, BC and worked in an assembly plant riveting wing sections for Boeing Aircraft. Later Clara and a girlfriend worked as nurse’s aides in Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, California. Later returning home in 1959 to marry William Nichol, a young patrolman with the Regina Police Service. A son, Barry was born to them in 1962. Clara enjoyed family life until William’s passing in 2007. She always liked animals and helped maintain the bird feeder in the backyard as long as she was able. In her later years, Clara and her son enjoyed providing “doggie daycare” services for a few neighbourhood pets. A Memorial Tea will be held at St. James United, 4506 Sherwood Drive, Regina, SK on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined. Those so wishing, may make a donation in memoriam, to The Salvation Army, 2240 13th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3M7.
