Obituary of Lillian (Leokadia) Edna Kutarna

LILLIAN (Leokadia) EDNA KUTARNA October 6, 1919 - November 24, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lillian (Leokadia) Edna Kutarna (nee Dorosz) at the age of 97 years, in Regina, Saskatchewan. Lillian died peacefully in her faith at Regina Pasqua Hospital on Thursday, November 24, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband Henry A. Kutarna, her parents John Kazimierz Dorosz and Jadwiga Dorosz, her brother Edmund Dorosz (Stephania), her sister Valda Goski (Joe Goski Sr.), her nephews Ed Dorosz and Reginald Goski, and her daughter-in-law Dayle Williams. She will be forever remembered by her five children: Henry L. and his family Alexis (Jim) and their family Cecilia and Genevieve, and Matthew (Agnes) and their family Jacob and Ambrose; Bernadette (Gerald and family); Francis (Janet) and their family Paul and Kimberley (Thomas); Mary (Alan) and their family Kimberley, Jamie (Cam), Leslie, Michelle (Eric and baby Jackson), and Christopher; and Annette (Darren) and their family Andrew (April) and Ben; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Lillian was a woman of faith. She was raised in rural Saskatchewan amid the challenges and hardships of life in Cedoux, Saskatchewan in the depression, and later moved to Regina. With her husband she raised five children while contributing a life of service to the church and the wider community. She passed on her faith and principles of life to her children. She was proudly fluently bilingual Polish/English. She was the organist at St. Anthony’s Parish, Regina, and at other parishes for 40 years, including playing for weddings, funerals, and Masses. As a music teacher she is gratefully remembered by many piano and music theory students. She was a faithful wife who lived independently as a widow for over 30 years. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, godmother and friend. Lillian’s family gratefully recalls the many friends who supported her in the last few years. We especially call to mind: Jolene Pho and the home care staff who developed a personal and caring relationship with Lillian, and her pharmacist Anastasia Mantikos who took a caring interest in her well-being.
