Obituary of Bernadette Mary O'Donoghue

BERNADETTE “ETTA” O’DONOGHUE It is with heavy hearts that the family of Etta O’Donoghue announce her passing on Saturday, December 31, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband John O’Donoghue (2007) and son-in-law John Robinson (2010). Etta leaves to mourn her children, Frank (Audrey) O’Donoghue of Ireland, Etta Jr. (Christy) Monahan of Ireland, Irene Robinson of Regina, and Paul (Sheila) O’Donoghue of Windsor; thirteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Etta was born in Kells, Ireland in 1922. She studied radiography at the University College Dublin, where she met and married her husband John. In time, they immigrated to Canada, and Regina became their home in 1972. Etta had a great love for and knowledge of history, literature, and the classics. She was a marvellous story-teller, interesting, and witty. Etta was a long-time member of St. Martin’s R.C. Parish and made wonderful friends there. She and John were founding members of the Irish Club of Regina, again making many dear friendships. Etta had the most beautiful smile and sparkle in her Irish eyes. Everyone she met was blessed with her joyful radiance and sense of humor. Etta’s faith meant everything to her; she had a great devotion to the rosary, and prayed for her family daily. Prayers will be at St. Martin de Porres R.C. Church, 4720 Castle Road, Regina, SK on Thursday, January 5, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will also be held at St. Martin’s Church on Friday, January 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Peter Pham as celebrant.
