Obituary of Dorothy May Burdon

DOROTHY MAY BURDON (née DEAN) Dorothy, age 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 with family by her side, the same date as her son Howie in 2010. She was born on February 12, 1927 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Dorothy will be fondly remembered by many, as someone with a great sense of humor and an angelic singing voice. Dorothy and her “baby brother Bobbie” were never too shy to perform their well-rehearsed rendition of “I Love You Truly” at family gatherings. She loved people who brought out the best in her, and did her utmost to bring out the best in others. Dorothy was an avid bingo player and although of Scottish decent, had the luck of the Irish, and would often come home with tales of either making a profit, or needing “just one more number”. In her younger days, she was part of a bunko club in the Rosemont area and spent many days playing with the neighborhood ladies who loved her quick wit and contagious laugh. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, William and Nancy Dean; younger brother Bobbie; twin brothers in infancy; husband James; and son Howie. She is survived by her sons, Glen and his son Derek, Ken (Sheila) and their children, Todd, Michael, Victoria, and Andrea, Ron (Doris) and their daughters, Melissa and Nichole; and Howie’s widow Shelley and their children Christy (AJ) and Lindsay (Jarret). Dorothy also leaves five great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Ty, Easton, Breck, and Kayla. Private family service will be held at the Regina Lutheran Home, where Dorothy has resided for the past 6 years. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Pasqua Hospital, who made her final days comfortable and the staff of the Regina Lutheran Home, who showed Dorothy and her family so much compassion during her residence there.
