Obituary of Laverne Joy Kinnon

LAVERNE KINNON Laverne passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. She was predeceased by her husband John; parents, Verne and Joy Barber; sisters, Ione and Donna; brother Bill; and aunt Rita. Laverne is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was born and raised in the Lumsden District on January 21, 1931 and attended school in Tregarva and Craven. Laverne married the love of her life, John, and together they settled on a small farm South of Lumsden, where they enjoyed many years of happiness and success. She was a passionate supported of the Toronto Blue Jays and an avid curler and curling fan. During the winters, the curling rinks of Lumsden and Craven were like her second home. Once Laverne was no longer able to competitively curl, the winters were spent in Phoenix, which provided great joy for her and John. Special thank you to her friends, the home care nurses.
