Guzz (Ellen) Krause

Obituary of Guzz (Ellen) Janette Krause

After a long life that she filled with laughter and a strong love for God and her family, Guzz passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2017. She was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on April 19, 1930 and lived her whole life in Regina. Along her journey she raised six kids with whom she shared her humour, love of swimming, music, dance and how to be kind and compassionate. Mom loved Christmas, and her love for it is instilled in her kids and grandkids. Guzz was always full of energy and game for anything fun. Many stories and memories of Guzz include her singing to her friends in the aisles of the grocery store to her being the go to person when someone needed to be thrown into the pool at our yearly Minot trips. Her strong sense of helping others made her work until her retirement as a porter at the Plains Hospital a perfect fit. Her motto was always “he ain’t heavy, he’s my brother”. Her kindness and infectious humour made her someone people always wanted to be around, and it seemed everywhere she went, she found a friend, whether old or new. Any day of the week you could find a fresh baked pie or cookies along with a cup of coffee and a game of cards to share a laugh and a story. Just like Mom’s heart, her door was always open to friend or stranger alike. Predeceased by her husband Stan Krause in 2007, Guzz leaves a large family behind to celebrate her life; sisters Agnes Peterson, Laura Hine and Bert Davis; daughter Nancy (Pete) Larsen, Hans (Charissa) Larsen, Kris (Marlyss) Larsen, Heidi (Adam) Walters, Stephen Larsen; son Marty (Ruth) Krause, Deborah (Ryan) Adams, Lydia (Ray) Deobald, Barclay (Suzy) Krause, Julia (Scott) Bennie; daughter Janie (Brian) Gillis, Greg Gillis, Lindsay (Gillis) Smith, Tammy (Gillis) Hockstra, Trish (Gillis) Luke; son Bozo Krause (Kathy Ferguson); daughter Jackie (Steve) Burchi, Ariana (Sam) McCullough, Kirsten Burchi (Carter Holmes) and daughter Shari Krause, Stuart Hompoth, Anna Hompoth, Olivia (Luke) Ashton as well as twenty-three great grandkids. A huge thank you from our family goes out to all of the wonderful support our mom received from all of the various health care professionals who assisted her over the past year. We would like to add a special note of gratitude, respect and appreciation from our family to May Chow and Kathy Ferguson. You both showed extreme kindness, care and assistance to our mom over the past year. There are no words to fully express how much all you have done meant to her and to our family as a whole. A Celebration of Guzz’s Life will be held at Hillsdale Baptist Church, 101 Munroe Place, Regina SK on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a hot dog lunch (Mom's favourite). In lieu of flowers, a donation to Compassion.ca would be greatly appreciated.
