Obituary of Marie Anne Chubala

MARIE ANNE CHUBALA (née BELL) June 24, 1954 – January 15, 2017 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marie Anne Chubala (Bell) originally of Moose Jaw, SK. After a long, courageous battle, Mom passed peacefully, surrounded by family and much love on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the age of 63. She was predeceased by her parents, Clarence (Zoel) Bell and Marie (Ken) Paulson. Marie is survived by her siblings, Rick (Diane) Bell and Gayle (John) Hudson; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom grew up in Moose Jaw and left for Ontario to start a family in 1971. Upon her return to Moose Jaw in 1974, she met the love of her life, devoted husband and father, Carl Chubala. They settled in Regina, where they shared the next 39 happy, fun filled, busy years raising us girls, Tina Charles and Barbara Fink, as well as pursuing their lifetime dreams of travel together as the best friends they were. Eventually came grandchildren: Chelsey, Garrett and Kallden (children to Tina), Courtney, Lucas, Halle and Dylan (children to Barb) and an already full life got even more full, more busy, and more fulfilling. Our children will sorely miss their visits with their Grandma (Nana), the giggles she brought to their days and her gentle, loving nature. She was a definite bright spot in their lives and they adored her just as we all did. It is our family’s hope that Mom is most remembered for her laugh and a smile that could brighten the cloudiest of days, as well as her selfless, giving nature, strong family values, and exquisite beauty both inside and out. Mom’s ability to love unconditionally, her appropriate use of swear words, her uncanny ability to get lost on the shortest of trips, and the Christmas Carol singing forced on us during holiday gatherings, which always led to much laughter amongst us – if you knew Mom at all just reading that was enough to bring a smile to your face or elicit a chuckle… those are the things we would like to remind you to remember, as those are the things that mattered – the goofiness and the joy. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all who have offered their support and condolences. A very special, heartfelt thank you to Dr. Lyster and Dr. Macloud (Pasqua Hospital) for their remarkable compassion; as well as the staff of MSU (Rosellia, Sarah, Kelly) for providing such quality care during this difficult time. In honouring Mom’s wish, there will be no memorial service and we are asking that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Lung Association of Saskatchewan, 1231 8th Street, Saskatoon, SK S7H 0S5. It does not need to be said how much we miss her, our lives have been forever changed, but we take comfort in knowing she is at peace and that the day will come that we will see her again. We love you.
