Obituary of Gary Delmont Kriekle

OCTOBER 17, 1953 – JANUARY 21, 2017 “Today God embraced his child and welcomed him home.” Gary’s gentle soul shone through his beautiful eyes and smile. Although he has slipped away from our touch, he will never leave our hearts; his spirit will resonate with us forever. Gary was predeceased by his dad Delmont; grandmother Anastasia Maserek; grandfather Frank Maserek; and uncles Red and Joe Maserek. He will be missed but remembered with love and a lifetime of wonderful memories by Maureen, his wife of thirty six years; son Aron (Rumaya Sarwar) Kriekle; grandson Shayhan; mother Clara Kriekle; sister Joan (Greg) Hutchinson; mother-in-law Beth Ortman; father-in-law Andy Ortman; five sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; numerous nephews and nieces; great nephews; great nieces; and many good friends. Gary was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend. His greatest love, devotion and life passion was for his family. A life time of gratitude and appreciation is extended to those who gave Maureen and Aron the much needed emotional support during the very long and difficult path that they walked during Gary’s illness: Clara, Gary’s mom, Glenna Stewart and Blair Flavel who consoled Maureen many evenings as she cried while she mourned the slow painful loss of Gary. Gordon King whom God sent to Maureen when she could no longer carry the heavy burdens on her shoulders alone, Curtis who visited Gary regularly even when he no longer understood, Maureen’s sister Karen Hognerude, lifelong friends Shannon Mang-Wooley, Greg Wooley, Cathy Fuchs DeCorby, Tammy and Debbie. A special thank you to all the staff at Providence Place, Guardian Grove for the excellent care, love and support to Gary and family during his short stay with them. A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. reception to follow. A private family interment will be held.
