Obituary of B.D. (Chuck) Brown

On February 23, 2017, B.D. (Chuck) Brown, age 79 years passed away quietly in his Regina home, surrounded by his family, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Chuck was born on May 27th, 1937 in Regina to Norman and Alice Brown. Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce; four sons, Victor (Karen) of Ontario, Don (Tracie) of Regina, Bill of Frisco, Texas, Tom (Ann) of Regina; nine grandchildren Lee (Sig), Kyla (Travis), Jordan, Darren, Collin, Jodi, Paul (Sarah), Paco (Alicia), Carlos (Mychaela); four great grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann, Tucker, Reid, and Isabella. Also survived by his brother Wayne (Donna); brothers-in-law, Ken (Joan), Gordon, and Allan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Norman and Alice, and daughter-in-law Patricia. His early years were spent on a farm near Tregarva. At age six, the family moved to Regina, where he attended Benson School and Scott Collegiate. In February 1959, Chuck and Joyce were married, and in 1972 they started Chuck’s Heating Service, a furnace repair business in Regina. Their years of success were due to their many valued customers. The fall of 1979 saw the purchase of their cottage on Sandy Beach at Katepwa Lake, where they spent their ensuing summers enjoying boating, swimming, fishing, and general beach life, with kids and grandkids. Later, as the cottage became more work and the idea of warmer winters became more attractive, Chuck and Joyce bought a home in Yuma, AZ, where they enjoyed the sunshine and social activities offered in the park. He loved his retirement and enjoyed a full and happy life. Special thanks to Dr. VanRooyen, M.D. for his excellent care over the years, Dr. Iqbal, his nurse Cori, and the chemotherapy department at the Alan Blair Cancer Centre. Also, special thanks to the Palliative Care Program and the Palliative Home Program. A Celebration of Chuck’s Life will be held at First Baptist Church, 2241 Victoria Ave., Regina, SK, on Tuesday February 28, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 200-4545 Parliament Avenue, Regina, SK, S4W 0G3 (www.saskcancer.ca/donate), Palliative Care Services, Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 1A5, or to the charity of your choice.
