I only learned of Gordon's passing today. My condolences to his family. I was Gordon's secretary at both Balfour and Cochrane High Schools. He was one of the best bosses I ever had and was particularly supportive of my career dreams. I give a lot of credit to his encouragement that helped me succeed. Rest in peace, Gordon.

My condolences to all members of Gordon's family. He made a big difference in my life by showing me how hard work and a proper attitude produce positive results. He managed to do this through his coaching and I am honoured to have played football, for a number of years, under his guidance. He was a great motivator who could always get the best out of people.

Our condolences to the family and friends of Gordon Currie. He was a wonderful teacher and I had the honour of being in his class at Balfour Tech in 1951-52 - and it was such a pleasure meeting up with him on our weekly walks at the Lawson a few years ago and talking about "the good old days".

I am saddened by Gord's passing. I knew him when we both worked at Campbell Collegiate. I was always impressed with his ability to work with students in the school through personal contact. He taught me much about dealing with students during his time as principal. His contributions to both education and sports in the city will make a wonderful legacy for a fine man. My condolences to his family.

To Gordon Currie's Family – Please accept our sincere sympathy on the passing of your Dad, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He will always remain in your hearts, comforted by many good memories.
Gordon Currie started his teaching career when he came to Balfour Technical School when I was in Grade 11 which would be during the 1948-49 school year. He taught history which was not an easy subject for the students He not only gave us information but he explained the topic so that we could understand what it was all about. The topic at the time was “The Unification of Germany”. By Mr.Currie's explaining it to us, we could remember the information which then made sense. He also arranged an extra class to review the information prior to an exam. Needless to say we appreciated the
the extra time which helped us improve our marks. He was a well liked and respected teacher. I remember this school experience even today after so many years because Mr. Currie's care and concern for his students made a deep impression on me at the time and even today. I lived most of my life in Regina and was always pleased to read or hear about his involvement in the our City and the respect so many have for him. Thank you Mr. Currie.
Sincerely, Betty (Hasenfratz) Harle

Dear Currie Family,
We were saddened to hear about your Dad's passing and you have our deepest sympathy at this time. He was a great man and coach, I was fortunate to have him as a friend, teacher and coach in football and hockey at Balfour and also playing hockey with him on the 'Noble Nine'. Our lives at Balfour started at about the same time, this was his first year of coaching football and in his second and third years we won the Saskatchewan High School Championship. I tried to model my coaching after him, as he always treated every one equally. We always thought of him as a true friend, may he rest in peace.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Gord Currie. Gord was a great human being and a great coach. He was also a fantastic motivator. I played football for Gord at Balfour Tech for three years and one year with the Regina Rams. He was also my history teacher for two years. I have the greatest respect for Gord Currie. Regretfully I will not be able to attend the funeral as I am out of the country and there is not enough time to make arrangements to attend.

I will always remember Gordon Currie with appreciation for being a superb teacher and equally highly respected football coach. During my four years at Balfour (1960-1964) he was admired by all the students and faculty. The impact he had on my friends who had him as a teacher or football coach, said he brought out the best in all of them. The Balfour football team were undefeated and provincial champs and no one could have achieved that except Gordon Currie. Gordon Currie brought out the best in all whose paths crossed his. I for one, am eternally grateful for knowing him for a brief time in my life. He affected the lives of generations of young people and for the better. Rest in peace Gordon Currie. Mr. Currie, you were a great, in not, phenomenal man of sincerity, honesty and kindness. You will truly be missed by all who knew and loved you.
