Obituary of Gordon Herbert Gardiner

Gordon passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2017 at the age of 90 years at Sunset Extendicare. He was predeceased by his wife Marjorie; son Brian; daughter Glenna; brother Don and sister Margaret. Gordon is survived by son Don (Debra); daughter-in-law Leanne Naka; son-in-law Craig Hale; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gordon was born March 18, 1926 to Harvey and Cora Gardiner. He was educated at Regina View School, Central Collegiate and graduated from the U of S with a degree in Agriculture in 1948. He married Marjorie Clive on October 15, 1949. Gordon and Marjorie farmed in the Regina/Richardson district until their retirement in 2007. He was active in many organizations including Sons of Scotland, Regina Shrine Club where he joined the Pipe Band after taking up Bag Pipes at the age of 75 and the Family Service Bureau. He was also very involved with the Barbershop Singers where he was a founding member of the Mel-O-Tones Quartet. They entertained many people across Canada and parts of the U.S. While on the farm, Gordon and Marjorie loved to entertain. Whether it was a barber shoppers steak night, a Shrine gathering, or friends, there was many a good time and many a late night spent in the ‘PARK’. Gordon’s family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the staff at Sunset Extendicare for all the help and kindness where his home was for the past year. A Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 2170 Albert Street, Regina, SK, on Thursday March 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date.
