Jadwiga Pytel

Obituary of Jadwiga Stella Pytel

JADWIGA PYTEL JUNE 24, 1929 – MARCH 23, 2017 It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Mother. Jadwiga was predeceased by her husband Leon; parents Adam and Wiktoria Uleryk; two brothers, Janek and Marceli; one sister Marianna; grandson Cooper Jakowski; sisters-in-law Clara Pytel and Jennie Wolfe; brothers-in-law Cliff Wolfe and Richard Rozycki, and niece Donna Wolfe. She is survived by her loving daughter Susan Jakowski; son Len (Maureen) Pytel; granddaughter Lacey (Dallas) Suttie; great-grandchildren Caledon and Ava Suttie; brother Stanley (Junia) Uleryk; sister Leokadia Rozycki and sister-in-law Dorothy Uleryk. Jadwiga was also 'Ciocia' to many nieces and nephews. Jadwiga was a young child in Poland when war broke out in 1939. Several family members perished however Jadwiga, Marceli, Stanley and Leokadia survived and emigrated to Canada in the late 1940's and 1950's. Jadwiga became a housekeeper for the Brownlee Drugs family and also became actively involved in St. Anthony's Parish which became a lifelong commitment. She met her husband Leon during this time and they married on November 25, 1952. Jadwiga was a lovely woman, both inside and out. Her home and gardens were beautiful and she was a wonderful cook, especially her borscht and apple strudel. Saturdays for Jadwiga were always reserved for shopping, going for coffee and visiting with Leokadia, Junia and Stanley. They were affectionately known as the 'Polish Dustcloud' as they just spun around the city from place to place. Though Alzheimer's took its toll on Jadwiga, she still enjoyed the company of her family and friends, eyes bright and smiling. The family would like to thank Dr. Salgado and his staff who went above and beyond the call of duty when looking after Leon and Jadwiga. Also a special thanks to Dr. Ong-Tone who restored Jadwiga's sight and enabled her to have a better quality of life. A big thank you as well to the nurses, doctors and staff at Sunset Extendicare where Jadwiga resided for the past four years. Prayers will take place at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony's R.C. Church, 2275 Atkinson Street, Regina, SK on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Stanislaw Poszwa presiding. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Flowers gratefully declined.
