Obituary of Oliver Lambert Howard

OLIVER LAMBERT HOWARD Oliver passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the age of 94 years, with his daughter by his side. Ollie was born in Leroy, Saskatchewan spending his youth in Fort Qu’Appelle before moving to Regina. He proudly joined the RCAF serving in WWII. When he returned to Regina, Ollie’s career focused on helping veterans through his position with Veteran’s Affairs. This is also where he met Ruby Trumbley whom he shared his life with for 60 years, and was still living in the home they made together when he passed away. Ollie was predeceased by his wife Ruby in 2013. He is survived by his daughter Cathy (Rob) Hobday; granddaughter Kayla Hobday; grandson Michael (Samantha) Hobday and their son Holden James; sister-in-law Wilma Trumbley; numerous nieces and nephews; cherished neighbors and Cathy’s amazing friends Greg and Donna Wilchuck. Ollie loved woodworking, fixing things, hunting and curling however the highlight of his life was being Michael’s and Kayla’s grandpa. He was their biggest supporter when he could, be it at the hockey rink, speed skating oval or any other activity they participated in. The ultimate for Ollie, however, was when Kayla chose to become an officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force last summer. His pride could absolutely not be measured. When Michael’s son was born two weeks ago, making him a great-grandpa, Ollie’s life was truly complete. Although he never met Holden, his picture was the last thing Ollie clearly saw. Cremation has taken place. A private service and interment will be held at a later date. Should friends so desire donations in memoriam may be made to a charity of your choice.
