Goodbye, my friend. I was honoured to have known you for a good, long while.
I was thrilled to have you as my Scout/Venturer leader, while I was honoured to call you friend thereafter.
There are many stories and memories I have of Steve while in Scouts, but not nearly enough space to write them all. Steven definitely affected my life for the better.
It is tough to know that you are now dead and gone; I enjoyed making the trip to Santa Maria to chat with you, even for a few minutes, during your brief time there. Although you didn't say much, I still believe you could hear me.
Rest eternal grant unto him, O LORD, and may light perpetual shine upon him.
Be prepared!
Jason

I always enjoyed the visits and stories that Steve shared during Camp Pianue. One time he wanted to show me how sharp his knife was. He wanted to scrape a little dry skin off his arm ... instead I got to perform first aid with butterfly sutures to close the gap! Rest easy

Steve was my scout leader when I was a kid and I have tons of great memories with him. He gave an incredible amount of time taking us out hiking and on camping trips. In 1982, I went to the World Jamboree with him to Canmore, AB -- one of the coolest experiences of my life.
Steve taught me a ton about building shelters, building campfires and other valuable outdoor skills that I continue to use and pass on. He was a great man, that had a ton of energy and was a kid at heart. He put a lot miles on his old Chevy van taking us out on adventures on weekends and we always enjoyed his German Shepards that came along on every trip.
I'm so sorry to hear that Steve died. I haven't seen him in many years, and I wish I had a chance to tell him in person how much he impacted my life. Condolences to his family -- thank you so much for sharing him with so many scouts over the years.

I remember Steve from the RGH. He was always willing to work on special projects which demanded accuracy and creativity. He also appreciated a good joke. My sympathies to the family.
