Obituary of Dorothy Margaret Schneider

DOROTHY “MARGARET” SCHNEIDER

The family of Margaret, late of Regina and long-time resident of Fillmore, SK, is saddened to announce her passing on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 14, 2017. She passed away peacefully in the Regina General Hospital from a coronary event earlier in the evening, a lady with a big heart that served her well for nearly 101 years. Margaret was born at Hepler, Kansas on June 9, 1916. She immigrated with her family to Saskatchewan at the age of nine months. Margaret and her parents, Otto Walter Kirkpatrick and Clarissa Pearl Talbot Kirkpatrick and siblings, Gladys (Stewart Guy), Clara (Bob Baldock, Lorenz Schneider), Ruth (John Schneider), Lois, and Floyd (Denise) worked in the agriculture industry in South Saskatchewan for many years. Eventually, her parents purchased a farm just North of Montmartre, SK. Our Mother was the last surviving member of both her original family, and her husband's siblings. Mom married our father, Jacob Schneider, in Fillmore on March 28, 1940. To them were born five children, Jean (Gerald) Phillips, Dale (Gloria), Sharon (Edwin Kosior, Bruno Cey, Reg Taylor), Eileen (Dennis) Hill, and Myrna (Gerard) Clavelle. As well, she dearly loved her fifteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jake predeceased her in 1994, and she is survived by her sister-in-law Denise of Qualicum, B.C. Margaret was a courageous and industrious, little woman, who practised the strict principles of life taught by her parents. At the same time, she rarely missed an opportunity to create mischief or initiate some reason for laughter. Margaret was great company to her family and friends. We will miss that, oh, the memories! We wish to thank everyone for the kindnesses they bestowed upon her over her life, especially the residents and staff at Queen Victoria Estates in Regina, her last residence. All flowers are gratefully declined. Friends and family wishing, may make donations in memory of Margaret, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9 or to the Fillmore Cemetery Fund, Box 185, Fillmore, SK S0G 1N0.  A Celebration of Margaret’s Life will be held at Fillmore United Church on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
