Obituary of Ralph Alfred Paul Gerock

Ralph, late of Regina, SK, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Grace Hospice at the age of 87 years. He was born in Mazenod, SK on February 1, 1930, one of eight children to Ted and Rosella (Commet). Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Marg; son Ron (Elaine); daughters, Cheryl Mazurak (Ted) and Joanne Curtis (Ron); grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Erin and Shane Evans (Keela, Liam), Robin Gerock (Devyn, Ashton), Whitney Staruiala, Shelby Gerock, Lea Staruiala, Camryn Gerock, Chad and Kit Mazurak (Cash), Jeff Mazurak and Brandy Gilroy (Alexander, Benjamin, Connor), Stacey and Brad Kozakewich (Austin, Acadia), Jenna and Lyndon Kozakewich (Sedona); and brother Harvey Gerock (Sky). Ralph started his career with the Government of Saskatchewan as a labourer at age 18, he worked for 37 years and retired as a Project Coordinator. Ralph was a Jack of all trades and master of everything. He could fix or build anything, and his family and friends all counted on him regularly for his wisdom. Ralph loved animals, farming, and rural life. In 1966, he built a beautiful acreage in the Condie area, where he had his dream shop and the big red barn. Ralph got his children involved with horses starting with the Lumsden Gymkhana and Riding Club, and later the Saskatchewan Appaloosa Horse Club, where he served as director and president. He was also a director for the Appaloosa Horse Club of Canada. For several years, Ralph served as a committee member of the Canadian Western Agribition. After retirement, Ralph and Marg enjoyed spending their winters in Yuma, Arizona and did so for many years. Ralph loved his family, fishing, and farming, he never had his work done. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Regina Wascana Grace Hospice and our special angel Val Stacyszyn and lifelong friend Gordie Robertson. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a luncheon and happy hour. Private family burial will take place at Riverside Memorial Park.
