Fay Majeran

Obituary of Fay Majeran

CAROLYN FAY MAJERAN

Fay passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the age of 75 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert Magee, Edwin and Marion Nagel. Fay is survived by her spouse Mike; children, Susan Majeran (Alan Findlay), Michael Majeran (Kelly), and Christine Majeran (Steve Heidinger); and grandchildren, Levon and Salan Majeran Findlay, Sean and Holly Majeran,  Steven Jr. and Cooper Heidinger; and sisters-in-law Kathy (Gordon) Crossman and Lillian Lohse.

Fay was born in Moose Jaw on May 10, 1942. She grew up in Mossbank where she graduated high school, then moved to Regina to train as a Registered Nurse at the Regina General Hospital.  Fay married Mike in October, 1963 and began their family a year later. She was a full-time mother after she hung up her nursing hat, until she and Mike opened the “Double M” in Moosomin. After moving back to Regina in 1974, Fay and Mike started their own sewer and water business, Municipal Utilities Ltd. in 1976.  Fay decided that the kids needed an activity to keep them out of trouble after school and this began a 10 year tenure as a Regina Lions Band parent running several days a week, on different schedules and volunteering tirelessly to cook at band camps, fundraise, and chaperone band trips.

In 2005, Fay and Mike sold Municipal Utilities and retired. They continued their annual month-long holidays for several more years ending with a trip to Romania in 2010. Fay was diagnosed after their return. She didn’t spend much time with “why me” and instead lived with and fought cancer as her “new normal”.  Fay talked often about how great the people were that she met along the way, the others in treatment, the staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic and finally, the angels from the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital. She appreciated the loving kindness, care, and friendship she received during her stay.
