Carol Lawrence

Obituary of Carol Anne Lawrence

Carol, aged 71 of Regina, passed away at home on Thursday, May 25, 2017 surrounded by her family after a brief but fierce battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Andy; her three children, Mark (Tara) of Bridgewater, New Jersey, Scott (Lucy) of Dundurn, Saskatchewan and Leanne of Indian Head, Saskatchewan, along with six grandchildren.  Carol grew up in Watrous, Saskatchewan and enjoyed her summers at Manitou Beach and working part time at the drive-in movie theater. She moved to Regina after graduating high school to attend nursing school at the Regina General Hospital. After getting married in 1968, she supported her family by being a mother, wife and nurse through moves to Broadview, Kipling, Estevan, Saskatoon, Regina and Strasbourg Saskatchewan, finally settling back in Regina in 2000. Carol was a great mother, wife, sister and friend. She enjoyed the company of her sisters Lois Kane and Donna Crawford and her niece Linda Halbgewachs. Her and the "Twisted Sisters" were famous for their late night bridge games and general “BS” sessions. She is also survived by her brother Don of North Vancouver, BC. Carol was a kind and loving person, and a great nurse. While she worked in many hospitals as we moved around Saskatchewan, her favorite position was working in hemodialysis at the General for the last 18 years of her working career. She loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends. She was most recently a regular in Mesa, Arizona in the winter months and the Jersey Shore over the summer. Carol's spirit and loving manner were immediately apparent to those who spent any time with her. She married into a large family and acquired with her husband eight brothers and sisters-in-law. She was a regular fixture at the Lawrence Family Reunion Golf Tournament and while she was a terrible golfer, greatly enjoyed the company of her new family. A Celebration of Carol’s Life will be at held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate donations be made to the Terry Fox Foundation, which efficiently supports innovative cancer research,  The Terry Fox Foundation, 150-8960 University High Street Burnaby, BC, V5A 4Y6 or TerryFox.org.
