Obituary of Freda Wilma Manz

Freda, beloved life partner, mom, mother- in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother; passed away peacefully in her home with family by her side on Saturday, May 27, 2017.  She was predeceased by her husband Ewald “Len” Manz and siblings, Ellen, Rose, Archie and Beatrice. Freda is survived by Walter Jones; her daughters, Sharon Radigk-Kobialko (John) and Marilyn Howard (Reg); grandchildren, Ryan Howard (Paula), Starla Olynick (Cory), Josh Radigk, and great-grandchildren Dorian Howard, Sofy Olynick, Samuel  Howard and Andrew Howard; siblings Victor, Josie and Alice; sisters and brothers-in-law Eileen and Elmer Tiefenbach, Norman and Dorothy Manz, Erna Manz and Diane Manz. Freda was born January 11, 1928 in Bridgeford Saskatchewan to Laurits and Violet Larsen. She was the middle of child of eight siblings.  Freda was always full of heart-warming stories of her life on their homestead in the Qu’Appelle Valley. She left home at 16 and finished her high school and post-secondary education in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan. Her career included positions at the Saskatchewan Legislative building, Vital Statistics, and the Medical Arts where she made lifelong friends.  She married Ewald “Len” Manz in 1948 and put her life into homemaking and motherhood. Her life revolved around her two children, Sharon and Marilyn, and her three grandchildren who were her greatest treasures. She was a strong pillar in their lives and they will carry her legacy with them always.  She loved her siblings, nieces and nephews, and enjoyed visiting with them often. After Len’s passing in 1982, she moved to a new home in 1984 and soon met her second life partner, Walter Jones. Together they enjoyed travelling the country in their motorhome, visiting family from Ontario to B.C. and various trips through the U.S. and England.  Walter has four children, and twenty one grandchildren all of which Freda treasured. Freda wished to stay in their home throughout her battle with cancer; where Walter was able to care for her and fulfill her wishes right to her last breath. Our family is forever grateful to his undying devotion to Freda. The family wish to extend special thanks to Dr. Chalchal, Dr. Liskowich and the Palliative Care Nurses. A Celebration of Freda’s life will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1909 Ottawa St, Regina, SK on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
