Marlene was always ready with a smile and warm greeting every time I saw her.
Her mischievous laugh with a little tilt of her head, made me smile.
Her warm and generous spirit will be missed. Keep precious memories close.

An abundance of fond and happy memories from the times our families spent time together - especially when we were kids. Strong in character. A love of fun and laughter. And the kindest of hearts. Deepest condolences Wade, Wendy and family.

It was my pleasure and honour to work with Marlene in the late 70's and early 80's when the Shoppers Drug Mart store was part of the Southland Mall. She was the friendly face of our post office. Marlene was never without her trademark smile and a friendly word for all. She was a valued member of the team at the store. I knew Marlene to be a loving and proud mother and a dear friend to many.
There was a movement, during those years when we worked together, to add security measures inside the store. "Loss prevention" was its moniker. One of the things head office stressed was keeping the door on the post office safe closed and locked. There must have been thefts from the post office safes in other stores. If I passed the post office and door of the safe was open I'd catch Marlene's eye, she'd instinctively move to close the door. And she'd smile. For years after I left Shoppers Drug Mart Marlene and I would share a laugh for when I came to say hello to her, she said the first thing she did before saying hi was to check to see the door on the safe was closed. She had a great sense of humour and she carried herself with class.

I hope that in due time your family receives God’s peace that excels all thought, so that it will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus. God is called the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation. Rest assured that God cares for all his creatures and he would never bring us suffering. A soothing scripture I like is Psalm 34:18 which reads: “Jehovah is near to those that are broken at heart, and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.” He promised that in the Paradise, we will have the prospect of enjoying life without end, free from all problems, accidents, and sickness. Even our dead loved ones like Marlene will be resurrected. (Psalm 37:9, 29; John 5:28, 29) With all my sympathy for the loss of someone so dear.
