Obituary of Eleanor Colleen Copeman

ELEANOR COLLEEN COPEMAN (née RILEY)

On Wednesday, July 26, 2017 our beautiful Wife, Mother, and Grandmother was reunited with her beloved son Jamie, as her loving husband and daughter held her hands. There to welcome Colleen home were her Grandparents, Jim and Etta Black, Vera and William Riley; Parents, Gordon and Esther Riley; Parents-in-law, Phillip and Muriel Lawrence; Brother Gordon Riley; Brother-in-law Leonard Copeman; and her Fur Babies, Teto, Diesel, and Harley. Left behind to cherish her memory is her Soul Mate and loving Husband Robert (Bob) Copeman; Daughter Bonnie-Lee (Blaine Copeman Bender); Grandchildren,  James Copeman (Keshia Hodgson), Jesse Copeman (Tiana Steele), and Riley and McKenzie Copeman; “Adopted Daughter” Pamela Lusk; Special Niece Renee Cooke; Sister Corrine (Jim) French; Sister-in-law Kathy (Copeman) South; Brother-in-law Ron (Jan) Copeman; Aunt Marge Black; as well as many cousins who were more like brother and sisters, nieces, nephews, and her fur babies, Callie and Maddie.

Colleen was born October 28, 1951 and grew up in the Tate/Semans area. On April 10, 1971, she married the love of her life, Bob. Together they raised two children, Bonnie-Lee and Jamie, making their home in Regina.  After their children were grown and they welcomed their first two grandsons, James and Jesse, Colleen followed her heart and joined Bob driving truck across Canada and the USA. Their grandson Jamie joined them on many trips and became their “little trucker.” In February of 2000, tragedy struck when the family lost their son, brother, and uncle, Jamie. Colleen was devastated and never truly overcame the loss of her son.  In the fall of that year, Colleen was there to welcome her twin grandchildren Riley and McKenzie. Grandma was always there for dance recitals, school functions, baseball, basketball, and soccer games.  Along the way, Colleen became “Grandma” to James’ soccer teams. A couple years ago Colleen came off the road and back to her roots and started helping the neighbor and friend Don Ogilvie with seeding and harvesting on his farm. As well, she became a lunch supervisor at George Lee Elementary School. The children were a highlight of her day and brought many smiles to her face. Colleen was always a pillar of strength and loved her family and friends fiercely and unconditionally.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 3A, and 3B of the Pasqua Hospital for the compassion, support, and care they gave Colleen and the family. A special thanks to Janis Walker for opening up her home for Colleen’s short visit from the hospital and to Faye Bernhardt for helping Janis take Colleen for treatments. To our Moose Jaw Ford Family a heartfelt thanks for their support and to the many family and friends who gave their love along the way.
