Ruth was born on July 29, 1928 in Limerick, Saskatchewan.  After graduating from Limerick High School she attended Normal School in Moose Jaw.  She began her teaching career in 1949 in one room schools in southern Saskatchewan.  During this time one of her superintendents noted "she has proved herself to be a capable and conscientious teacher who is highly respected by pupils and their parents".   In 1953 she moved to Markinch to assume a new teaching position.  There she met John and they married on July 16, 1954.  She continued to teach in Markinch until 1966 when the family moved to Southey, where she taught until she retired in 1989. Ruth was dedicated to her students, often going above and beyond to ensure their success.

Ruth was always busy.  She was a full time teacher and a devoted, dedicated wife and mother.  She was an active member of the church, volunteered in her community and she was always there to help her neighbors and friends. While balancing all these responsibilities, she continuously took summer and evening classes to upgrade her education finally receiving her Bachelor of Education degree in May 1984. The family wishes to express their heart-felt thanks to the staff of Gardiner Point Care Home for the care they provided in her last years.
