Obituary of John Roderick MacDonald

John, of Regina, Saskatchewan passed away late on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the Pasqua Hospital.  John was born in Regina on November 27, 1938. He spent his school years in Regina and dedicated his life to the province as a civil servant, working in Agriculture, Student Loans and other departments through his nearly 35 years of service. John was known for having a wonderful sense of humor and a warm, friendly and contagious smile. He loved gardening and he won many trophies in his ten pin bowling days. His passion, however, was always for his family from his nieces and nephews to his sons and his grandson whom he affectionately called “the Boss”.  John was predeceased by his parents John Roderick MacDonald and Anna Kennefic; his sisters Eileen, Joan and Mary and his brother Howard.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Diane; his sister Pat (Bob); his sons Steven (Laurena) and Shawn (Victoria); his grandson John; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass for John will be held at Christ the King Parish, 3239 Garnet Street, Regina, SK on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. John was an avid Rider fan, a season ticket holder for many years and was always passionate about the team.  He was proud of the new stadium and there would be no better way to honor his memory than to cheer on the green and white.
