Obituary of Loverna Katharine McKenzie (Fry)

LOVERNA KATHARINE MCKENZIE (FRY)

(née DILL)

Loverna passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the age of 79 years. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth McKenzie; parents, Elsa and Edmund Dill; and brother Brian Dill. Loverna is survived by her children, Randy Fry (Teresa) and Lisa Major (Charlie); granddaughters, Danika (Eric), Brisana (David), Kalista, Larissa (Brandon), Ashley, Katelyn, and Danielle; brothers, Alan (Daphanie) and Ken (Arlene); sister-in-law Rita Dill; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Loverna was born on a sunny Easter Sunday, on April 17, 1938 in Regina, Saskatchewan. She enjoyed a happy childhood with her three younger brothers and loving parents, guided by their Christian faith. Loverna attended Wetmore public school, followed by Balfour Collegiate. Her secretarial education at Balfour guided her career choices at various educational institutions. Loverna married Randy and Lisa’s father, Alfred Fry in 1959. Alfred and Loverna and their young family lived in British Columbia and Ontario before settling in Regina in 1970. Loverna married Ken McKenzie in 2005 and enjoyed a wonderful, loving relationship until Ken’s passing in 2009. She had many passions, art, fashion, interior design, creative writing, Chanel Number 5 and all things cats! Loverna was extremely proud of her granddaughters and their amazing accomplishments. She was greatly looking forward to the birth of her first great-grandchild this December. We would like to thank the dedicated staff at the Regina General Hospital CCU, EMS services, Pastor Jerry Borkowsky, Pastor Larry Fry, and Chriss, Sharon, and the management team at Superstore Albert South for their timely and compassionate care. Loverna will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Loverna’s name may be given to your local Humane Society or Salvation Army.
