Dear Val, We are saddened to hear about your and your large family's loss. Words seem feeble in the face of the all the emotions that arise iin the greiving process that lies ahead for all who were touched by your Mom. Time heals much pain but in the immediate the loss of a matriarch is nothing short of devastating. I offer condolences from both me and Patricia . Thank you for the plainly-spoken and moving obituary tribute to Cathie's many devotions and much love. It captures a faithful Prairie woman o so well. The stuff of a real life that mattered. Indeed we struggle and strive, strut and fret on this Stage of Life but a short while, then it's over... and final exits of good people leave all with longing and sorrow. This time of year we bid farewell to much vitality all around us... its almost poetic. My mom left in October six years ago. I know it hurts. We wish you and Dave and all those lifting this burden of sadness... much strength and eventually the peace of understanding and acceptance. It's the only way we can carry on. Keep her memory well. To the family of Cathie Overend: I went to school with Cathie at Holy Rosary and at Sacred Heart Academy. She was a beautiful person with a lovely singing voice. I also sang in the Cathedral choir with her but not nearly as well! Over the years we tried to get together for lunch every so often but our growing families kept us busy. Your mom was a very special person with a wicked sense of humour. I visited her in Wintergreen before she needed more help and we had a lovely time. You all should be very glad to have had her as a mother and I know you will have many happy memories of her.Our deepest sympathy to all of you. We were unable to get to the funeral but our prayers are with you. Regards, Gen Grant

Dear Sandra, Jordan and the Overend family, Our sincere condolences on your dear mother, mother-in- law, grandmother and great grandma's Cathie Overend passing. We feel blessed to have met her and got to know what a gentle, kind and caring woman she was. She was nothing but kindness to us and our family visiting from Iceland.
