Ruth Moffat

Obituary of Ruth May Moffat

JUNE 30, 1922 – NOVEMBER 26, 2017

We are saddened by the loss of our beloved matriarch who, above all, taught us the importance of family. She had a strong work ethic and spent countless hours serving others, her community and her church. Always accepting and open-minded, she led by example with her humility and selflessness.

Ruth was a keen and careful listener and she was always interested in keeping up with current events. She enjoyed many hobbies, including baking (we will especially miss her famous butter tarts), knitting, sewing and reading.

She showed strength in the face of adversity and was amazingly adaptable. Her positive and welcoming attitude was a genuine gift, with which she put others at ease. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Ethel Davis; sister Diane Hilderman; and husband Clare Moffat. Left to honour and remember her love are Ruth’s children, Shirley Gaura, Cheryl (Randy) MacQuarrie, and Linda (Kevin) Whittle; grandchildren, Tiffany (Jeff), Teagan (Dan); Donna (John), Aaron; Mehley (Justin), and Jaden; great-grandchildren, Elisabeth, Charlise; James; Adrian, McKayla; Rayna, McKenna; Jade, and Ruby; great-great-grandchild Sophia; as well as  nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. In memory of Ruth, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301-2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1 or St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 1861 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2R2.
