The family announces the passing of Hilda, formerly of the Earl Grey area and presently of Shalom Nursing Home in Cupar, SK, on Friday, December 15, 2017. Hilda was born one of fourteen children to Jacob and Elizabeth Mohr of the Kalsberg district. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1980; son Donald in 1975; her parents; and all of her siblings and their spouses except for one brother Henry and one sister-in-law Agnes Mohr. Hilda is survived by her daughters, Gail (Art) Warnecke and their children Colin (Kirsten) and their children Jackson and Camryn all of Balgonie, Sean (Rochelle) of Regina, and Tara (Brant) Leatherdale of Calgary and their children Jayme and Jagger; Darlene (Marvin) Meickel and their children Steven and Erin (Mark) and their child Dominic all of Regina. As a young woman, Hilda made her way to Regina where she was a waitress for many years at the LaSalle Hotel. She met John Manz and they were married on November 18, 1948 and settled on their farm south of Earl Grey where she lived until 1981 at which time she moved to her home in Earl Grey. Hilda spent twenty years in her home at which time the ravages of dementia prevented her from remaining there.  She lived for a time in Regina at Queen Victoria Estates and Kennedy Lodge and finally to the nursing home in Cupar where she passed away. As a farm wife, Hilda was known for her abundant and tasty meals as well as her large garden and that carried over when she moved to town. She did many chores when John hauled the kids and their instruments to band practices and performances. Funeral Service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Earl Grey, SK, on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Lunch will follow in the Earl Grey Hall. “Hilda lived a long and abundant life and while we mourn her passing we celebrate her life!”
